Privacy Policy
We collect as little as the work allows. What we keep is used to operate our services, improve them, protect them, and answer you. We do not sell personal information.
This Privacy Policy explains how The Traveling Ronin LLC (“The Traveling Ronin”, “we”, “us”) handles information in connection with this website and the applications, software, and other services we make available.
Who we are
The Traveling Ronin LLC is a company based in Santa Monica, California, United States. For any privacy question or request, contact aki@thetravelingronin.com.
Information we collect
Information you give us directly. If you email us or contact us for press, collaborations, permissions, or support, we receive your email address, your message, and anything you choose to include (for example, a project name, your device, or a software version when you report a problem).
Technical data. When you visit the site, our hosting and analytics providers automatically process limited technical information such as a truncated or hashed IP address, browser and device type, referring page, and the pages you view. We use privacy-friendly, aggregate analytics that do not build advertising profiles of you.
We do not knowingly collect special categories of data, and we do not run advertising trackers or third-party ad networks on this site.
How we use information
We use information to operate and secure the site and our services, respond to your messages, understand in aggregate how the site is used so we can improve it, and comply with legal obligations. Where the law requires a legal basis, we rely on our legitimate interest in running and improving our services, your consent where you have given it, and the performance of any request you make of us.
Analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics, a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics tool provided by Vercel Inc. It measures aggregate traffic (such as page views and general location at country level) without using cookies and without tracking you across other websites.
Service providers
We rely on a small number of providers who process data on our behalf under their own terms and safeguards: Vercel Inc. (website hosting, delivery, and cookieless Web Analytics); our content management system, Sanity, when used to publish and edit content; and our email provider, used to receive and answer the messages you send us. We share information with these providers only as needed to run the service.
Selling your information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Cookies
For ordinary visitors, this site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. Our analytics are cookieless. A strictly necessary cookie may be set only for our own editors when they enter the content-preview mode of the site; it is not used for ordinary browsing. If this changes, we will update this section and, where required, ask for your consent first.
Data retention
We keep the messages you send us for as long as needed to answer you and to keep a reasonable record of our correspondence, then delete or archive them. Aggregate analytics are retained only in non-identifying, summarized form.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
External links
The site and our channels may link to platforms and services we do not control, including social platforms and app stores. Their handling of your data is governed by their own privacy policies.
Children’s privacy
The site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a request, email aki@thetravelingronin.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
California privacy rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended, gives you the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request access or deletion, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. As stated above, we do not sell or share personal information. You may exercise your rights using the contact above.
International users
We operate from the United States and process information there. If you access the site from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be processed in the United States and other countries whose data-protection laws may differ from those in your location.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date below and, for material changes, take additional steps where required by law.
Effective date: July 19, 2026. Last updated: July 19, 2026.
